Jan Robinson is an author shaped by curiosity, honesty and lived experience. Her first book, Tips From Widows, began in the early days of her own bereavement, when she kept a small notebook with her everywhere she went. Whenever she met another widow — at dinner, at friends’ houses or in the course of everyday life — she would ask for one piece of honest advice. Not theory, not clichés, but the real things that get you through. Those conversations became a quiet lifeline, and eventually a book that touched thousands of readers.
After widows began sharing it with their families and friends, widowers started writing to her asking if a companion book might follow. She later gathered their stories too — practical, candid, occasionally funny, always human — and Tips From Widowers was born.
Jan’s writing also reflects the lighter side of her life. Inspired by her grandchildren and their shy hamster with oversized teeth, she wrote Keith the Teeth — a gentle, uplifting adventure about difference, courage and finding your voice. A second book in the series, continuing Keith’s story, will be released in 2026.
Across all her work, Jan writes the way she listens:
with warmth, wit, honesty and a deep respect for the stories people carry.
This website brings her books together in one place — a quiet celebration of the stories she has shared with the world.
